CLIENT ACCESSFAQ

Q: How can I tell if I'm a client of HSB Global Standards - Codes Services?
A: Often, the primary contact between Codes Services and our Clients/Partners, is the Quality Assurance Manager (actual title used in your organization may differ slightly). This member of your organization should be able to confirm your company's relationship with HSB Global Standards. You may also contact the Customer Support Specialist at any one of our Regional Offices.

Q: I know I'm a Code Services client, but I don't know my contract number. How can I become a registered site user?
A: The contract number can be found on billing reports provided by Code Services to document services performed for your organization. Check with your QC Manager. Your local Code Services Authorized Inspector or Authorized Inspector Supervisor can also provide the number to you. Please note that the contract number contains 13 characters, followed by a single letter (A,I,P,H,D,F, or U). It should look something like this: GEN1234567890H.

Q: In the past, we've called your Codes and Standards group directly when we have questions regarding code issues. Can we still do this?
A: You may certainly continue to contact our Codes and Standards group by telephone. To help us ensure prompt responses to your code-related questions, we provide Specific Code Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs) in the Client Access/Tech Resources area of this site. Many of the questions fielded by our Codes and Standards staff have been previously addressed and can be found in the Code-Specific FAQs.

Q: Why do I need to provide my contract number to register as a site user?
A: Many of the resources found on the HSB Global Standards web site require a considerable investment to maintain. As part of our pledge to provide outstanding value-added service to our Clients/Partners, Code Services reserves these site features for the exclusive use of our clientele. We need your contract number to confirm that your organization has a current Code Services contract.

Q: How do I register?
A: You must be an ASME Code Services client and have a valid contract number to get access to the protected portion of the site. To register, click the "Register" link located at the top of the page. You will be directed to the "Terms of Use" page. Once you have accepted the terms, a registration form will be displayed. After completing and submitting the form, you will be emailed a confirmation message. In order to confirm your registration, you must reply to this message, leaving the subject line intact (it contains a token that must not be altered). Once we have received and processed the reply from you, your registration will be complete and you will receive a "Welcome" message from us. You will then be able to log-on to the site.

Note: In order to complete the registration form you will need the following information:
1. A contract number. The contract number is a 13 character alphanumeric code that looks something like this - "GEN0123456789". Your contract number may have a different alpha prefix, and it may also have an alpha suffix (I,F,H, etc.). Do NOT include the alpha suffix, nor any dashes, when you enter the contract number in the registration form. The contract number can be found on the billing reports and invoices we provide to you.
2. A business e-mail address. If you would like us to help you locate the contract number or assist you with the registration process, we can be reached at 800-561-8930 (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm CST), or through the Contact Us feature.

Q: I forgot my username and/or password, what can I do?
A: If you've forgotten your username and/or password, you can request an automated email reminder to be sent to the address you specified when you registered. The request is generated from the "Login" page. You are automatically redirected to the Login page when you try to login unsuccessfully.

Q: What is my email domain? Is that the same as my email address?
A: Your email domain is not the same as your email address, although it is part of it. The domain is everything to the right of the @ sign in the email address. For example, a typical email address looks similar to this: jdoe@anywhere.com. The domain in the example would be "anywhere.com".

Q: How do I change my password?
A: You can change your password by clicking the "User Profile" link that appears at the bottom of all site pages. That will direct you to your User Profile. Scroll down the page until you see the "Password" and "Verify Password" fields. Enter your new password in each of these fields. Once you click submit, the change is made.
